Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday signed into law Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill, dubbed “Don’t Say Gay” by opponents.
The bill prohibits teachers from leading classroom discussions on gender identity or sexual orientation for students in kindergarten through third grade. It also bans such lessons for older students unless they are “age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate.”
“In Florida, we not only know that parents have a right to be involved — we insist that parents have a right to be involved,” DeSantis said at a press conference near Tampa.
