Top Trump executive Allen Weisselberg pleaded guilty Thursday to a 15-count indictment in Manhattan Supreme Court, bowing out of the Manhattan DA’s criminal fraud case against the Trump Organization as it steams toward an October trial.
The former Trump Organization CFO did not agree to cooperate with prosecutors, but he could be called to take the stand against his former employer. It’s the latest in a string of setbacks for Trump, who is beset on all sides by legal woes stemming from his real estate business, his election denialism and his potential mishandling of sensitive presidential documents.
In entering the plea, Weisselberg admitted he evaded hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes by concealing compensation from the Trump Organization totaling roughly $1.76 million.
